Dogs, hands down.

Don't mind (most) other people's cats - but after growing up owning both Cats and Dogs I have no desire to feed / water my own feline. Though worryingly the little one seems to love them so that might need to change some day

Dogs have owners, cats have staff!

Dogs are dirty, smelly, whining, greedy, scrounging, loud, inconvenient and destroyers of the home. Yeah, I hate dogs.

We currently have both, I live in despair sometimes.

I grew up with cats and dogs. Would always say I was more of a dog person, as although I liked the cats we had, they were quite boring, mostly slept and never showed any affection much.

I got a cat about a year and a half ago when one of my mate's parents had an unwanted litter and my wife pestered me for about a week (she used to be a dog person too). I couldn't think of a good enough reason to say no - I didn't really want it at the time - but now very pleased we got him.

One thing I will say to people who say cats are standoffish and lack personality, ours can be like that sometimes for sure. We've had him for about 18 months, and only now is he starting to show affection often and it seems like he's actually showing some sense that he likes us.

To contrast, we dog sat a working cocker spaniel for a friend recently. She is a lovely dog, but requires so much attention compared to the cat. Not to mention taking up more space, making more noise and eating a hell of a lot more.

One day we'll get a dog, for sure, but for now I'm definitely inclined to say I'm more of a cat person.

I think people who don't like cats do so because they've never had one, and don't get how they operate. Whereas people who don't like dogs probably, fairly, don't fancy the hassle, noise and attention requirements.

Daily. In the middle of my lawn.

Mow your lawn then. The only time I ever have cats poo on my lawn is when i haven't cut it for a while and it's really long

Yup, cats make you work for their affection, whereas dogs are more like "OMG YOU FED ME, I LOVE YOU!", "OMG YOU THREW A STICK, I LOVE YOU", "OMG YOU KICKED ME IN THE FACE, I LOVE YOU!". At least when a cat shows you affection you know they actually mean it :p

I guess some people just can't be bothered, or can't take the rejection!

When I go to the in-laws, their dogs are like affection sponges. Won't ever leave you alone, they need constant stroking and just won't leave you alone. I like them, they are really nice dogs and they are well trained too, but they are seriously needy.

cats compulsively bury their leavings though, how often have you seen cat leavings just left lying around?

dogs just fire away and leave it where it lands, well, unless they try eating it again.

Literally daily in the middle of my lawn! It's disgusting.

So are humans... But if dogs are like that, you need to be a better master.

More people (about twice as many) are allergic to cats than dogs.
Even Science favours dogs!! :D

Cats 100%.

Dogs are disgusting animals. They stink. You have to clean them. I can instantly tell if there is a dog in a house or car by the vile smell. They do massive disgusting s***s everywhere and a lot of owners don’t even bother to pick it up. They slobber and lick you which is also disgusting. They can be unpredictable. When a dog comes running up to you have no idea what it’s going to do..bite you, jump on you, sniff you.

I like cats and dog, but would sooner have a dog. Cats dont really need you, they just turn up for food, some fuss every now and then, and maybe somewhere to sleep
