i have just done the most stupid thing ive done in a very long time...

computers been working fine, no problems, but i was bored so i decided to flash the bios on my DFI NF4 Ultra-D, noticed the new bios version with lots of little fixes....BAD IDEA!

my computer no longer boots, 3 red lights stay on and nothing on screen, i seem to have been both very unlucky but at the same time very lucky, i have more than £30 to my name for the first time in months and my mate has a spare motherboard (epox 9npa) hes bringing round now which he's never used (got to pay him £60 for it)

:( those sennheiser HD595s are going to have to wait i suppose :(

any disaster storys from anyone else recently?

Same thing happened to my Epox...or so I thought.

It changed the boot sequence to my IDE HD rather than my S-ata one so maybe you should check that.

//Edit ironic name :rolleyes: :p

Just hotflash the bios, you'll be up and running in no time, do you know anyone nearby with a DFI NF4 board?

Thats very unlucky! How come flashing the bios ruin a motherboard? :\

The BIOS is a "boot up operating system" when you flash the BIOS the utility wipes the flash ROM chip prior to the utility writing the new code onto the chip. If something goes wrong and the next bootup the BIOS "boot up operating system" is corrupted..so a dead motherboard. If you can copy a flash ROM from another identical machine with a EEPROM programmer you can recover the motherboard. Or if the motherboard has a dual BIOS (Gigabyte) if the main BIOS is corrupted you can boot off the second one, then reflash the corrupted one. A great idea.
