Hi, bit of a hi-fi noob here!

I recently got a Monitor Audio ABS2 sound bar. So it turns out it doesn't support DD only PCM...It's connected to my Sony W755 TV via HDMI ARC. So when using the built in Netflix app the default 5.1 audio doesn't come through and I've to change the audio to standard on every single thing I play, which is quite annoying!!

Any easy way around this issue?!

On my tv, i can set what is output via one of the menus. I'd have thought yours would be the same (mines a samsung so it will be a different way of setting it).

Thanks for the replies...Have had a good look in the audio settings and can't see anything related. It's a Sony Android TV

I'm going off memory here, but if you go into settings from home, audio, the bottom one is the one you are after maybe.

Think the third option is something like 'output uncompressed only' or some such.

Can have a better look when home.

Thanks...had a good look but can't find it. There is reference to digital out and PCM but not HDMI!

Really? Ok didn't know that...so optical is is the only way to get multi-channel PCM?

Nope, ARC and the Optical have the same specs for audio transmission. Multichannel LPCM over ARC will come into existence when HDMI 2.1 physically hits devices (along with object based audio)

Wtf it doesn't work for me :(

I remember it didn't work initially for me when I got my denon x2300 a couple weeks back.

Remember myself getting annoyed with it for a day or so, but then at one point when I went back to it it was working.... Kept working since.

I don't fiddle now in case it stops again :)
