Dolby/DTS Dialogue Issues

Just got a onkyo TXSR308 for crimo and I'm having some issues with the optical+Dolby.

Basically when I enable the S/PDIF passthrough in Shark007 codecs and play a video, I can only hear the background audio and no dialogue, the speaker config is set to 2 speakers which is what I have so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

The file is definitley DTS enabled.

Does anyone have any experience setting up their pc for this kind of setup? I don't want to be stuck with PCM

Well 95% of dialogue is on the center channel, which you do not have. Either downmix beforehand or have your amp on Pro Logic or similar.

You probably want to set the AV amp to stereo (I think some Onykos have a stereo button on the remote?)
But failing that, for 2 channels, there shouldn't be that much difference if the audio is down-mixed by the PC and output as PCM. ac3filter shouldn't have a problem down-mixing 5.1 dts/dd to 2ch pcm and outputting over s/pdif.
