Dolby Multi Channel Not Atmos

Hi

Just added a Samsung Q990f soundbar to my PC via Nvidia 5090 HDMI.

Also downloaded the Dolby Access app and have the soundbar set up as Dolby Home Theatre on every setting I can find.

I get Atmos via compatible games just fine.

However when it comes to Disney/Netflix/Prime/Apple via browser on app I'm only getting Dolby MultiChannel PCM.

Any ideas?

Do you have a BD player? Go through your bd movies checking your soundbar lights up. Once you know that is working then you know soundbar decides it no problem

So if you have other sources/app/settings then for some reason that's the problem

I don't use streaming apps but use mpc HC, set bitsream out, tick the sound formats your soundbar decides, then download suitable samples with Dolby hd, dts hd master, atmos, dts x that allows you to determine your pc outputs everything properly.

If other things don't work IE within the app then it's the app that isn't working on that codec for some reason

Which browser?

A quick google suggests Chrome doesn't support Atmos but Edge apparently does.

If you're using a web browser on the PC, a number of streaming platforms limit things such as resolution and audio output. It's one of the most frustrating issues I've had to deal with regarding streaming platforms, I'd much rather use my PC as a full blown media centre but it's simply easier at times to use an APP via the TV or a third party device like a Firestick.

Turns out this was due to not having the right codecs installed. This a a brand new PC and looks like Windows stripped out these codecs in one of their updates and you need to manually install them for play back. Posting this in case others have the same issue.

With MPC HC everthing works, no codecs are needed on mine.
