Domain Forwarding?

I have been messing about with a WordPress blog using free offering from WordPress themselves, just for ease of use. I want to use one of my existing domain names to point to the blog and to cover the default WordPress URL. My domain is with 123reg and so in the control panel I have set web forwarding and pointed it at the WP address (forwarding type is 301). But when I go to my domain URL I get a Forbidden 404.

I have other domains forwarding successfully so is this a limitation of the free WordPress account or is it something I am doing wrong?

Looking at their pricing page, it seems only the paid-for plans let you use your own domain name.

Yes I see what you mean, seems to be a premium option. I could host it myself on my own hosting package but then I am not part of the whole WordPress blog community
