Yeah, so basically in a nutshell, we have a number of company domains some of which are registered with different hosting company's. Last month one of them was due to expire so I called the company it was hosted with to arrange renewing it and its all fine it will be done automatically sir and we will invoice you, yaay. Anyway a few days ago we get an email from a company offering to sell us our domain, we know they can't as they don't own it so we do a quick check and it expired last month and it looks like these guys have nicked it, I phone our domain hosting company for this address to find out what the hell is going on (its supposed to be auto renewed) and to cut a long story short their system has never heard of us or our domain or the guy who used to deal with them O.o
Right so to prove we do in fact exist I look up some of our info on them, sadly we lost the bulk of info we have for them in 2009 during a premises move however I am able to find old invoices from them for the domain in question. Result? nope, our account number doesn't exist and isn't even in the format they use. So I them scan and email them their invoice so they can check the details out, aaaaand I get an email back saying the customer relations team has looked into it and the domain servers are not theirs, I should contact the company who currently has the domain.
I am lost now...
