I'm currently developing my photography portfolio, and I'm now looking for a proffesional domain name. Rather than my current random one.

As I mentioned it will be for displaying photography mainly.

I'm looking for a domain using my name.

Which would be better?

www.FirstnameSurnamePhotography.co.uk
www.Firstname-SurnamePhotography.co.uk
photography.FirstnameSurname.co.uk
photography.Firstname-Surname.co.uk

I'm leaning towards using a subdomain i.e. photography.name.co.uk

Which might give a little more scope for other subdomains.

But the questions is which would be more professional?

Shorter the better - www.yourname.co.uk if you can get it. If you want to put it on business cards or give it to people over the phone you'll see what I mean.

If you get a name with a hyphen, be sure to get it without the hyphen too, to avoid confusion.

are you going to have anything other than photography on there? I'd have yourname.com/photos

It is going to be 90% photography, posssibly some sort of mini blog on the subject too. I'm not keen on the /photos tbh, thanks though.

Ok so if I get a domain with say 123reg can I then forward it to my current hosting? As a parked domain or addon domain? Will all email then be forwarded there so I wouldn't have to sign up for pop accounts with 123?

i got my domain off them..

ifaik all email is controlled by the host so its down to whoever hosts your site :) by default :)

edit: refering to 123-reg
