Hello, I have 2 domain names and a webhosting account with Vidahost. I have used the 'add on' domain part of Cpanel to get the account to use my 2nd domain name as well.

However, I have now just bought a new domain name at 123 reg and would that domain to use my existing web hosting account.

How do I go about doing this?

1) Do I have to change the nameservers from 123 reg to that of Vidahost?
2) My website host Vidahost will obviously also be used for email so will I have to do anything to the MX records - it's the MX records that confuse me a bit.
3) HOw do I get Cpanl to recognise this new domain name at 123 Reg? Do I add it in the 'Paked Domains' thing in CPanel?

Thanks for your help. I've just never had to deal with having seperate things so some of these new tools are foreign to me.

Thanks for your help.

That's the best way of doing it, unless you want to configure all the necessary DNS records (including an MX record) in the 123-reg control panel.

Again if you're using Vidahosts nameservers, and have configured an addon or parked domain then you don't need to mess around with MX records.

An addon domain allows you to host a separate website with its own domain name, while a parked domain points the domain at your web root. You just need to choose one or the other based on what you're using the domain for.

you can use domain forwarding to from 123 reg - will just forward it on to whereever, but then email can be a faff if you want to use the domain name

Option 1 is the easiest - point it at your Vidahost hosting and thats all you will have to do.
Everything else, such as MX records and so on, will be set up as default when you create the domain on the server.
