so a friend stupidly let his domain name get stolen (by a business associate) ..

He has a solicitor but they are old and possibly don't know the best way to proceed..

Are there solicitors in the UK that specialise in this sort of thing?

any name / advice would be appreciated!!

As above, also has your friend contacted the domain registrar they originally used?

we will call godaddy tomorrow but this is way out of my depth there are 100's of k involved so i really want to hand this off to a company that specialises in this sort of thing

ah ok, can't advise on any specialist recovery lawyers unfortunately. perhaps a polite, professional word with the existing lawyer as he may well already have contacts he can reach out to for help?

My frind has already set his solicitors on the other party but my feeling he is wealth enough to afford legal advice but no so rich he can just say "get it done cost does not matter"

I'm sure this is a very special area and speaking to the right solicitor can be much cheaper

@op who originally registered the domain, your friend or the person stealing the domain name?

His daughter created the godaddy account and his business pays for it.. He is 100% owner of that business the account details were shared with someone who was going to be involved in the business and set up the web site..

Not only has he taken the godaddy account he has put a redirect on my friend email account (for that domain) and changed the password..

There are, I work for an IP firm and we deal with this sort of thing..

I don't even know how to phrase the question..

My friend needs to tell his solicitor to call a company like yours (which would be a company that works in which field??? )

Or he needs to get a soliciror that works in a different field?

@edscdk

So was it stolen as you say or was it llowed to expire and someone else bought it? Did I miss that bit?

I Hear we have some Resident posters that may be able to help should you send them a trust message but you'd need to contact them direct

No someone was going to set up the website for him and has access to the godaddy account first they set a forward on his email (not realising he would be notified) then a few hours later he changed the email password and godaddy account password / account recovery options.

I will tell him he need to speak to an IP law firm.. And go over today to get him set up with a different email address
