Does anyone have any recommendations for somewhere to get a cheap .com domain. I tried 1&1 but they don't accept Visa Electron which is the only card I have.
Any ideas?

seek - why would you want to pay for domains with Paypal, if you don't mind me asking? It's something I've considered that we should offer for years now and we get a few requests every now and then but I've never understood why anyone would want to rather than using a card.

EirePlane - the nameservers you have configured don't currently answer for your domain. You may need to speak to award-space, unless you're just waiting for them to set you up. At present, it will never resolve though, they need to make a change to their configuration.

why wouldn't you want to? i mean an extra option for payment can only be a good thing right? or would it cause you more work than it's worth or something?

my own reasons are varied, for instance, if it's not me paying but someone in the USA then british based sites that don't accept paypal are just not an option.

also sheer laziness is a factor... my paypal details are always with me, but my bank card isn't...

One issue is that domain registration costs the registrar quite a bit - £2.50 per year for a .co.uk if you're a Nominet member, so the margins are generally very small. This means if you get any chargebacks on Paypal (which it seems apparently easy to do) then the registrar is out of pocket.

Work isn't an issue as it's possible to automate in the same way as card payments using IPN. Chargebacks/disputes, as daz said, are however if I'm being totally honest, my main issue with it is simply that it makes the site/product look a little unprofessional. Paypal just has that sort of vibe about it.

I can't speak for other providers but I think we'll be giving this some serious thought in the coming months as it seems to be something a lot of people seem to want. I do understand your point about always having Paypal access even if your card isn't with you.

Thanks for your input and sorry for the thread hijack :).

yea im still waiting for them to set em up. I entered the nameservers on the domain control panel with registron and i also added it to my domain manager at awardspace. they said it could take 27 to 72 hours

being involved in the domain industry i hear of lot's of "domain registration by paypal" requests. i rekon setting up a dedicated site, for example, "domainsbypaypal.com" would attract quite a bit of business.

having said that such a site may be a magnet for some sort of fraud :(
