hey guys, Just a quickie but i'm thinking of getting someone a .co.uk domain for a business venture they will go into at some point in the future. Essentially it's just a little gift i want to get them that they might find useful in the future.

So i was just wondering if you guys know where i should be registering this domain. I've done a google and it's brought up a lot of cheapest solutions etc and thats fine but i just want to make sure that if i pay for it and my mate goes to use it in 6 months time we don't find out that I went to a dodgy place and actually have no real rights to the domain.

Thanks for any help.

Wrong forum really but I use http://www.register1.net after a personal recommendation.

The companies that sell domains are usually resellers and therefore the price should be fairly similar across most companies.

I sometimes use www.123reg.co.uk and you can pick up a .com domain for about £38.75 for 2 years or more ( i.e. 5 years costs about £70)

The thing is that's just the domain, to have a website you need to be able to host this domain somewhere. You can get hosting quite cheap (£15 a year at http://www.tsohost.co.uk) but you probally will have a limited ammount of space that is availlable.

http://www.ochostreview.co.uk/ has a list of hosting companies to choose from

I use 123-reg, about £6.50ish for a .co.uk for 2 years - part of pipex too so shouldnt be going no where in a hurry :) :p
