At work a collegue asked me about a problem with the internet they have, he cant get anything to connect, and gets domain not found?

I know thats vague, but can anyone help, as im crap at networks and internet.

when we get " blah domain not found" at work its 99% of the time due to a network cable being unplugged, the other 1% is network card problems :)

EDIT: then again at re-reading that you say problem with the internet? not the connectivity to the network?

Im not 100% on this i was just asked a question about domain not found and someone not getting a connection. It could just be a network prob I will find out today. So its just the card in the main server? or cable.. will check it out. i take it a reinstall of the network card might do it?

ah well if its just a general worker saying "my pc says domain not found" and not being able to login,9 times out of 10 on our network its something as simple as the cable being unplugged from there pc, so that would be the first thing id check

no problem, if that fails to fix the issue then make sure the network cards ok in device manager, check its IP to see if its getting one, dont know about everyone else here but we sometimes get people kicking the network sockets on the walls so you might want to make sure thats ok too :p check the connection at the other end (assuming it goes into a switch or something?), try another network card, try different cables

thats about all i can think of for now, all the above has fixed any issues ive ever had with "blah blah domain not available" anyway :)
