Domain/redirect query

Is it possible to purchase a domain, then have any requests to that domain redirect to a different domain.

Ie. a domain is bought, but not hosted anywhere. It automatically redirects to a different domain, which is hosted, and has all the content.

Want the domain, but too cheap to host it, basically

i use a domain to redirect email trafic to my googlemail account, i dont see why it wouldnt work for websites and other stuff too.

Yes, your domain registrar will take care of this. It should be free of charge and called "web forwarding" or similar.
