ello,

Needing to set up a coupla sites but I've not checked prices in a long ass time.

Just wondering who is currently the cheapest for the following domains:

.co.uk (cheapest Ive found 5.98p for 2 years)

.eu (cheapest Ive found 0.95p p/y)

.com (cheapest Ive found 4.95 first year 8.95 thereafter)

.net (cheapest Ive found 4.99 first year 8.99 thereafter)

Im then looking at either having a friend host on same server as his site or possibly using the discount copde to make TSOHost £15 for the year.

From Nominet (the central UK registry, from which all domain registrars must buy their .uk domains), a .uk domain costs £5 + VAT. So £5.75 for two years is break even price. :)

What you might find when you buy your webhosting is you can get a year's domain registration with it too.

For .uk it should always be free, and some may charge for .com/net/org/etc protection (if available) as there's a charge from most registrars.

Although the whois privacy for UK domains is an opt out thing - it will still show the name of the person that registered it.

True whois privacy is now only allowed on certain domains (from June I think) - although the main ones are covered.

Places like Namecheap do the first year whois free and then you renew fo a few quid a year after that (I think thats the price).

If you go to Namecheap you can also get free SSL certificates!

I used to use Dynadot & UKReg for all domains, got fed up and moved them all to vidahost - around same cost, better support.

Hosting with TSOHost.

Can't complain at either company, top notch.
