Domain still not registered

I ordered my first domain and hosting package from hosting unlimited at about 11:30pm on Tuesday. I got the ftp details almost instantly after payment.

The domain name - jdawber.co.uk, would take 24hrs to propagate around the internet, according to HU.

Why is the domain still not working? When I go to jdawber.co.uk it just says page cannot be found. The worrying thing is, if I try to register the same domain on other websites, they say its available?

How long should I be waiting?

I just sent a ticket asking them why and they said I entered my post code in the wrong format.

I entered it: XXXXXX, but I guess they were expecting: XXX XXX.

Weird.

It would have been nice if they told me I entered it wrong.

Keep chasing them mate.
With fast DNS updates these days the domain name, once registered should appear in a WHOIS look-up (as above) pretty instantly - especially a brand new domain name.

For your own sanity I would also recommend changing your original post so you are not listing the domain name you want.
If I wanted to I could register that domain name - which company are you using by the way? They are being a little bit slow.
 
Everything is sorted now, I had to ammend my postcode and reorder

The domain has now been registered succesfully.

I ordered with Hosting-Unlimited.
 
They should really have their system validate postcodes before submitting them. You weren't to know but the Nominet automaton used to register domains requires the central space. Yes, they're that pedantic ;).
 
Yeah I was unaware about this stupid flaw...

But yeh the domain is now working.

The site is accessed via http://jdawber.co.uk but it doesnt work if there is no www before it?

Do I have to wait before this happens or have I got to change a setting or do something?

This my my first time ive bought my own hosting/domain so bit of a nub. I usually just use someone elses. :p
