I have a dilemma. I'm going for a 680i chipset mobo (which one has yet to be decided, probably the ASUS) but I don't know which ram would compliment it the best. the Geil is cheap and popular, OCr's seem to love the G.Skill too. But the Corsair Dominator had EPP and is SLi ready (though i don't know how much difference this makes  ) I will be overclocking, what should i go for?

Thankies.

I heard that the G.Skill had issues with the EVGA 680i mobo. If this is a factor of the ASUS when it comes out, I might have to re-think.

I've gone for the 6400 Dominator stuff with an EVGA 680i board, should be with me tomorrow for testing. :)

Im also interested in the dominator modules that you have purchased, can you please keep this thread together and post your results here, It would be much appreciated if you were to do so.

Also I think Its quite funny how the corsair ram is mostly dissmissed in favour of the Geil and G skill alternatives, Im under the impression that Geil runs hot, G skill can have compatibility issues and corsair is the most compatible and with the dominator moudules with the fan kit runs coolest and achieves similar clocks to the other 2 brands. It also fits snugly in between the two others price wise. I hope u get good clocks m8, good luck

I'll be doing some testing over the weekend, it's all plumbed in, but i'm playing around with the stock settings atm as i'm installing Vista Ultimate.

and the thing about the "image" of corsair ram as not a enthusiast brand is right, the other brans seem to be getting the limelight whilst Corsair just plug away making decent dependable products that just *work*

I've had OCZ / G Skill / Crucial Ballistix to name a few and they've all given me a hard time. All Corsair modules I've bought have just worked. :)

That might be your experience but it does not mean other brands dont "work".

Take a look at the corsair compability forums over on houseofhelp.com to find all the people who would disagree with you.

Using an 680i with Dominator PC2 6400 and a Core 2 6400

I'm at the following

Multiplier 7x
FSB 466MHz (QDR 1866)
Mem 1050MHz
Mem Timings 5,5,5,15 2T @ 2.25 V

I would really like to hit 1066MHz on the mem but can't seem to get there.

Anyone any experience of getting 1050 + with these if so what settings

hi which dominator modules are you goind for the c3 or the c4 as there is a big price difference , are the c3 worth the extra cash

I think so far everyone has gone for the C4, Id expect the C3 to hit stupid fsb with relaxed - in proportion to the advertised timings - timings. Also for the people whove already taken the plunge on this whats the tightest timings in comparison to your overclock

IMO get the cellshock ram, it's by far the best stuff at the minute and a lot of the current batches are coming with the pc8000 chips integrated into the pc6400 models so you pay for 6400 and get 8000, can't complain with that ;)

Most manufacturers do that. They get a load of chips from Micron, Samsung, Infineon, etc. They then test them and put the chips in different sticks depending on how well they clock. Ultimately the ICs themselves are the same, regardless. Additionally since the top-end sticks probably don't sell that many (comparitively), the lower end sticks will occasionally clock very well.

Got some of the Corsair Dominator C4 arriving with my 680i, will report back what its like.

Well its working fine :p Haven't got round to overclocking yet. 680i can be very fussy with memory, but it worked out of the box with both sticks in.
