Done something stupid!!!

Hi all,

Before I start I know what I have done is stupid so please only post in this thread if you can offer any advice please.

My M.O.T ran out last week and I was going to get it done on tuesday but i have just had an accident. I went in to the back of a friends car, according to the recovery guy it will be £1000+ so will have to go through insurance.

Will they ask to see the M.O.T? And what will happen if they find out that it ran out?

Again please dont post to say that i was stupid and shouldn't have been driving because I already know that.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Damage on my car is the front bumper, grill, bonett, radiator and fans as far as I can tell. My friends card will be a wright off as its only a P reg Fiesta.

Is there any chance they wont find out or should I be honest?

I remember 2 year ago the same thing happened to my dad and they diddn't ask for it.

EDIT: A police car was going past whilst I was waiting for tow truck and he stopped to ask if everyone was ok then had it away.
 
I just Cant beleve how much damage there is considering i cant of being going any faster that 5 mph.

So should I risk it and go through insurance? Bear in mind my exess is £350

I called the local MOT guy (been there a few times), he backwards booked me in for 20 mins after the accident and evoila it turned out ok. You are infact legal so long as you're on the way to the MOT station.

That would have been a good idea but i dont know anybody who would be willing to do that for me. Plus I was quite far from home (newton aclif when I live in durham)
 
Just had a call from the insurance and there sending someone to pick it up in the morning to take it to be repaired.

Looking at the pick i posted what are the chances of them wrighting it off?

depends entirely on the spec of thing. A P reg mk4 fiesta is worth more than 500. 500 i would say was the minumum amount. My N reg mk4 is worth more than double that at least and thats older.

My friends car is a 1.3 encore so i'm pretty sure it will be written off.

I went on a car valuation website and it says mines worth £4800 so i'm hoping that thet will fix it

Does your interior rattle like buggery? Mine ios really really irritating and I dunno what it is that rattles. Makes me want to push it off a cliff :mad:

I can turn up the music but that just makes it rattle more and more, can still hear it at ear bleeding level!

Mines an 02 plate. The only part of the interior that rattled was the panal to the right of the cd player. Easily fixed with a bit of blu tac :D
 
Just an update for those who are interested.

I got my car back today and they have not asked for the mot so I seem to have been lucky this time. :)

Total cost to repair was just under £3000 which was supprising.
Ive definately learn't from this and wont be driving till tomorrow after its had an mot.
