dongle back up broadband

Can i get a dongle to use if my internet ever goes down ?
i see dongles all the time but you have to pay inadvance and then the
data is only available for so many months.

what i want is a dongle i plug in as and when where it will give
me " pay as you go " options.

is this possible?

I used to use one a fair while ago. Can you not tether to a smartphone?

Yes I have a Vodafone PAYG dongle, It was really useful recently when my router packed up.
I think I bought it online, just do a Google, you should find one.
With mine you have to use only a £15 top up each time, but it lasts ages
