Anyone want a Quadro for ~£60 ?
Firstly, a lot of people are wrongly making a mockery of the Geforce 730 on NZXTs FB page. I know for a fact it would be FAR better than an iGPU. My old laptop was very capable at photoshop, gaming & 3D apps, and that only had a GT425M! (96 core)
I looked it up on OcUK and it turns out MSI make a 4GB version of this card!! -thats pro graphics territory with this core count(384), not to mention overclocking potential
So Ive been thinking, can you use this massive vram for such a cheap* card to do something cool(*if done wrong it could brick it) :
To make a budget Quadro alternative, minus the ecc but who cares...
If anyone knows how to hardware hack a GeForce to output 30bit colour, Ive heard it can be done, my only concern would be the mem bus width.
Also Quadros are so expensive! The alternative is AMD, even their Radeons enable 10bpc colour depth.
Then hook it up to a 1.07 billion colour monitor (some are very affordable lately). probably 1080p max, though my laptop I mentioned above could easily support 2 FullHD screens
edit- dont take this too seriously, just being hypothetical
while 4GB is silly for such a weak card, i still think theres nothing wrong with it. It seems Nvidia class people as either an average joe, a gamer or a business. What is there for say, a photographer who wants a decent gpu but cant afford a pro one and doesnt need the raw speed of a gaming one?
