Don't buy Razer Kraken if you value SQ.

I got mine today... in comparison to Hyper X Cloud Stinger and Phillips Fidelio X2HR.
These are the worst for clarity in every way, but are the best for comfort.
Tested with Fiio New K3 external headphone DAC/Amp.
The X2HR are the best for listening, the Cloud Stinger offer great balance of comfort / SQ at a great price.
The Kraken are just way overrated.

"Competitive gaming headset" - Any audio item that is geared towards gamers is more often than not, toilet.

Fidelio X1 and X2 remain the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn and the best build quality I have seen. Just a shame their openness and soundstage wasn't up to Sennheiser HD6XX series standards else I'd have still owned owned the X2.

Quality headphones + a desktop mic (or a modmic) is the best experience for gaming if voice is needed. Otherwise just any quality audio focused headphone from these established audio brands.

I use the Beyerdybanuc DT990 Edition headphone. Comfiest headphones I've used and sound great to my ears

So fare the only "gamer" headset I've tried that I like the sound quality of is the HyperX Cloud Orbit aka Audeze Mobius. Expensive too :S

I remember back in the CSS days when my friend got a Kraken headset... I could hear his AWP echoing through his mic and it was so annoying

The Cloud Stinger you can pick them up for £25 at the moment ! Tempted to get them as a backup headset.

Razer Blackshark V2 is a really good headset.
