Need to get my daughter a laptop for he college work, all it has to do is internet stuff and not much more tbh, budget £300, what should i be looking for as i have no clue when it comes to laptops, so please tell me what to look for and what to expect? thanks

At that price. For what she needs it to do. I'd go to a brick and mortar OCUK competitor and pick whatever had the best specs for the money.

You're not going to get much beyond dual core AMD APUs and Intel Celerons. Maybe some older refurbed i3 or i5 machines.

Any basic notebook should suffice.

At that price try looking at the Dell Inspiron, Latitude or Chromebook range. The outlet store is a good place to find a bargain sometimes.

Sorry, can't link it as it'd get the thread locked :(

Ideally you are looking for 4 gig RAM and Windows 7 or 8.1.

Anything else component-wise is going to be pretty standard really. Mainly i3 and possibly i5 if your lucky. The biggest choice really at this price range is the size.

As OhEsEcks said, best to visit a store and have play with what's on offer, I wouldn't be opting for anything less than an i3, something along the lines of a Lenovo G500 maybe?
