ok guys im playing GTA4 on pc... i have done the no restriction hack to get maximum settings...

i have maxed everything out in the game apart from AA which is at 2x... in the benchmark it showed solid 60 fps with vsync on... but in game its sometimes choppy e.g. when i turn around a corner on a long road it feels like the frames drop also texures flicker in and out??? dont i have enough horsepower to run the game??? or is it just the game... im playing at 1920x1080 rez....

my rig specs are in link under my sig... thanks...

GTA suppose to be badly coded but i did not find any problem with my 4870 x2 or 5870
and that was at 1920 x 1200 with max settings

might be a driver issue try the previous drivers u might have some luck it

it could be a setting in your ccc thats the problem try disableing stuff see what happens

IIRC crossfire and GTA4 doesn't work together too well - causing a reduction in overall average fps compared to a single card and random slowdowns.

You only have 1Gb available graphics ram.
Max requires 1.5Gb

Dont be surprised if you get missing textures that take a while to appear or popup etc.
There is no point doing a hack to get settings above what your system can run & then complaining about it on the forums :p

but i always thought that GTA4 sees ram for 1 gpu of the 5970 and not all of it so u had to use the norestrictions hack to max the game??? im sure that my rig can run it maxed i mean how Freakin bad can it be coded lol???

Yep what you describe sounds like a lack of VRAM, it will cause stuttering when new areas come into view (like looking round a corner down a long road).

Turn the textures down.

GTA4 is afterall a console port that was released ages ago now. You should have no issues at all running it. If you do get issues it will be either a patch or driver problem. The hardware isn't at fault here and I don't really think vram has got much to do with it either unless you're running crazy resolutions with eyefinity (which you're not). Have you downloaded the latest crossfire profiles from amd? I forgot to do this when I had my 4870X2 and most games ran terrible :p
