My dads PC an Athlon X2 with cheap mobo with on board graphics etc.

The problem he has with it is, whenever he opens microsoft outlook and tries to reply to an email it will crash, yet it will let him reply via forwarding.
Could this be due to a slow PC?
or should i be posting in the software section? lol

Would be great if you could share your opinions.

Doubt it is a hardware issue unless he is having any other stability problems.

Have you tried anything to fix it yet?

Reinstall Office?
Reinstall Windows?

Before you resort to reinstalling windows maybe try CCleaner. I have found that its registry cleaning function can sometimes fix odd windows issues like this.

thanks for the reply. ill give this a try.

its a bit of a pain trying to re-install windows for him because ill need to try not to delete all of his work emails.

Need some more info really:
What version of Outlook and Windows is he using?
Is there an error message generated when it crashes?
Does he have an automatic signature set for Replying and not Forwarding?

Also try turning off the reading pane and see if that helps.
Cheers :)

Hes running the latest version of windows outlook, hes running on windows XP (latest updates so SP3 i think?)

no error message when it crashes it just stops working.

no automatic sig.

Iirc replying to an email will pre-populate the "To" line with email address(es) whilst forwarding will not put anything in the To line.
Therefore his Outlook could be having trouble resolving emails against his address book.

You could try removing / re-installing the address book (back it up first).
Failing that remove/reinstall Outlook (back up all email folders first).

Doesn't sound like a straightforward thing to fix tbh :(
