Afternoon, guys.
I have to decided on something, and not too sure what route to take here..:S
Okay, so I have a Shuttle XPC SN85 G5 V2 system with the following specs:
Windows Vista Ultimate
AMD A64 3400+ (2.4Ghz, Socket 754)
2 x 1GB DDR 400
X1950Pro 512mb (Just bought this two days ago)
2 x 160Gb Seagate Serial ATA drives in a RAID config.
Samsung 16x DVD rw - Lightscribe.
Now, I love this system, does everything I need it to. Have had it for 2 -3 years now though.
Tammy's PC specs, (My girlfriend).
Intel Pentium 4, 478.
1.9Ghz P4 chip. (Motherboard won't support cpu's higher then this**)
40Gb Hard Drive.
Same dvd drive as me.
I have a 3.06Ghz CPU 478 lying around as well. No boards for it though.
Now, I have been offered a really good deal. A 939 motherboard and a cpu that runs at 2.7Ghz. The board has PCI-E as well, as the 939 socket.
So, do I buy it, and build myself another pc and let Tammy use the Shuttle?
Or do I buy it for her, and build her up a PC on that spec?
I just can't let the Shuttle go, love it too much and not sure I can go back to a full tower case again...
The other question, do I leave the deal, and find a board to support the 3Ghz cpu for Tammy?
**Is it possible to flash the BIOS of the Tammy's 478 board to support CPUs faster then 1.9Ghz?
