Don't order from Kobalt

I heard great things about them but my personal experience has been shocking.

Ordered a laptop of the 6th and I still haven't recieved an order confirmation... the thing that you're meant to get before they even think about building it and which, according to the website, usually takes 3 days or less to arrive.

I was assured by a kobalt rep when I ordered my laptop that I would recieve it the thing fully built by the 16th of next month (I need it for a trip I'm taking abroad). Given how things have played out so far, that claim is looking so far fetched it's unreal, given that they usually take 30 days when they are working under normal load.

I emailed them a week after ordering to ask where my confirmation was (I'm sure they get a lot of nerds screaming WHERE'S MY LAPTOP?! so I take care to be extra polite), and they get back to me last sunday saying that I should get it within 1-2 days.

6 days later and no sign... cool.

I got tired of waiting on wednesday and requested a refund, to which they still haven't replied. I just emailed them again but now I'm starting to get quite annoyed because I need my laptop for my trip and I'm without the funds to do so.

I understand kobalt are a little overloaded atm due to moving offices, but it seems like they aren't even fully aware of their own situation and are too happy to hand out deadlines that they are never going to meet.

so, just a warning. If you need your laptop in a hurry (if you call 40 days a hurry), I would avoid Kobalt.

In his defence, he's badmouthing a competitor (I think someone posted a thread titled "(another competitor) are charlatans" with a nice long bitch and it never got deleted

I wasn't having a go at all, just letting the OP know why he might get suspended or banned. After all, it's at the mods discretion, but the rules state what I said. Some threads get allowed, others don't.

Just so you're aware Souness, I understand your pain as my laptop is away on repair, but Kobalt currently do not have internet or phone lines at the new premises due to a BT ****up (or they didnt up til the other day). Dealing with BT occasionally on a business to business terms as part of my job, I'm not entirely surprised if this is exactly the case, as they can be completely useless on fault reports or ****ups!

This is likely not helping your communication, and I know its causing them a lot of problems! Hope you get your laptop or refund shortly :)

actually, the rules say it's okay to discuss orders direct from a manufacturer, within reason of course.

Yeah my friend ordered from them as well, just got refunded for it.

They were saying they were moving offices etc. but it's been over a week since they were saying they would be fully operational, probably just a temporary phase with moving but their customer support during moving offices was very poor

From my experience with them, yes things take time but they do get done. In other words, they are trustworthy.
I received a full refund for a Nexus (M860TU) when it got lost in transit - I was shipping it back to get a matte screen fitted. And this was after owning it for several months.
