Hell and Damnation HD, it's a total pile of Krap.

i downloaded it off steam and it wont play the 1st level, he cant pick up Ammo, in addition you cant save the menu bindings or the brightness, audio/ contrast etc.

i joined the Nordic games forum but they're ignoring my posts:mad:

Painkiller was always bad for this but they never used to ignore you, the game has patches online yes, but aren't these automatically sent to Steam as well, i thought the Steam version is always automatically updated; maybe it isn't.

that's 15 quid i've wasted and it took 6 hours to download as well, well ****ed off :mad:
 
When games get mixed reviews then you shouldn't be paying £15 for them.

You should wait until its on sale for an amount of money that doesn't bother you to pay if it turns out to be rubbish.

Admittedly no matter what price you pay, you expect it to work.
 
Is that the latest Painkiller game? If it's the one I'm thinking of, then I remember not being very impressed at all when I saw the interview / videos.
 
i remember playing heavens got a hitman years ago. was awesome and played it constantly, ended up destroying my graphics card and artifacted everything. good game! eh eh

yes it's the latest version, a remake of the original in HD and it deffo looks good.

but it's a pile of junk, i'll bring my rig here and download the patches, but to be honest it's so damned hot that i cant be bothered right now.

what is annoying is no reply on their forum, plus it took ages to download.

i never thought that this game would be buggy, i thought by now that they would have got their act together, because the previous 4 games were junk as well.

the original Painkiller had about 6 patches !!!! but was a damned good shooter, this new one should be ok by now, because it was released almost a year ago !!!!

you cant pick up the ammo....no ``E`` KEY, now this is a really obvious bug, because it's in the first map and would have been seen on release day, i've never known of any modern game being as bad as this...... i dont think Steam has the patches, i think these have to be downloaded via the forum

There's quite a few games in the series, so I sometimes wonder if I've missed out.

I've currently got Painkiller Universe. Does that include everything (bar the newest game obviously)?
 
All the recent PK games I've tried (overdose, resurrection, redemption) have been a load of crap, basically user mods that were snapped up for commercial release and it shows. Main problems being:

-Very poor balance i.e. randomly hard section
-Too little ammo on in some places, unforgiveable in a game like PK which is all about carnage
-Atrocious level design in terms of putting checkpoint markers in stupid places and having you back track through the same rooms
-Engine was good at the time but is starting to age now

It's not a case of me just being crap at the game, they are just badly designed from a progression perspective, kinda like when you see games that haven't been adequately user tested and were either thrown together quickly and chucked out the door, or tested only by experts who designed the game and know it all inside out.

It's a shame because the original and BOOH expansion were actually good games.

ok i got it working after going online and downloading some files from MP.

but it's a waste of time, it's exactly the same as the 1st Painkiller, with only a few mods and it doesn't even look all that good in HD.

It's as boring as hell, it's just spawn kill spawn kill, it's so damned repetative you just nod off, it's like Chemistry lessons back at school yawn bloody yawn :D

the original game was good, yes but that too is boring now, gaming has moved on a huge amount since then, because 7 years ago PK was good fun.

this type of repetative ``old school`` shooter looks like it's had it, and lets face it, it was only ever like this because they couldn't make it any better back then.

Serious Sam BFE does it well, but that has quite a lot of thought input that's gone into it, Painkiller is far too basic, it's the same all the way through.

I agree, avoid painkillers at all cost, very addictive. You'll be selling yourself on the streets for morphine money before you know it.
