I set my monitor to a resolution of 1680 by 1080. Everything is fine. If i open a picture which has a resolution of 4000 by 3000 then the picture fills only have the screen. I only achieve a full screen if I set the monitor to 1152 by 864. Why is that so ?????????:confused:
The same happens if I watch a film through my tv card via SVHS input :confused:
 
Might have somthing to do with using a 16:10 resolution with a 4:3 picture it usually causes black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

May I ask what monitor you are using and what software you are using to view the picture?

As Dauthi says, this sounds very much like a aspect ratio problem. The pcture veiwers and video players usually try to preserve the aspect ratio of the image/video (by adding black bars) instead of stretching it to fill the screen. There should be an option to fill the screen within the software, but this is not ideal as you will be distorting the image.
 
Yup, with microsoft picture viewer (atleast the one I am using on win7) the software preserves the aspect ratio - so you get black bars when blown up in slideshow mode.

If you want to full the screen with the image you will either need to crop the image yourself so that it fits into a 16:10 aspect ratio, or use a picture viewing software that allows you to either crop to 16:10 or stretch the image to fill the screen.
 
The optimum resolution of that monitor is 1920x1080 so that's the resolution you should use.

Setting it to 1680x1080 or 1152x864 gives the wrong aspect ratio so everything will look odd.
 
Yep OP should at least start with the correct native resolution of his monitor, ie 1920x1080.

It's a pet hate of mine people using the wrong native res on their monitors :p
 
Just got me one of these monitors and love it :) nothing else to add to the thread really. Just that monitor choice is good. :D
 
ok got it.set it to the high resolution.But if I want to watch tv via SVHS input on my combro 750 card then I get the black lines round it.Its not big enough.I cant change anything on the settings like aspect ratio.So is my card not good enough or the input via SVHS ? What can I do?????
 
What is the specific software you are using to watch the SVHS video on?

Is it something like Compro DTV 3 or something?

May I ask what operating system you are using?
