Don't you just love it

Here's a question:

"Why do modern loops algae up?"

I ask because I ran a loop back in the days of the Astek Waterchill kits and AXP 2500+, and for 2 years I didn't have a single bit of build up. Is it down to the additional heat, or is it just in extended/hard usage cases like Biffa's where this is a problem?

They don't with the appropriate additives.

Biffa, this is plasteciser from the crappy primochill tubing isn't it? Stained green by the dye in the coolant obviously..

I see. Come wednesday at the earliest I will start disassembling my loop because my tubing (also primochill proflex lrt ..w/e) has clouded very badly. Infact It's clouded so badly atm that the secondary problem (my brother emptied an entire 10ml bottle of mayhems blue dye into the loop..) has meant that the tubing has a nuclear green glow to it. The coolant is purple but inside the case you can only just faintly see a flash of mauve underneath the green cack. If my cpu block is stained he's going to be paying for a new one.

I expect the cpu block is probably filling up with this cack like yours has, so I'll take a look, but this loop has only been running since mid may so shouldn't be too bad.

Before it started staining green I noticed the 'coolant was looking cloudy' so I partially drained a section (quick disconnects) and noticed the tubing was starting to cloud. Rubbing it left loads of residue on my finger, texture a bit like anti perspirant.. lol.
