I've had a bit of an obsession with American products since discovering import sites like American Soda. There is an appeal in being able to try things that arn't normally made available to you.

Theres a new place called Si! in Irvine thats pretty good. Or the Waterside Inn just outside Seamill is good. Or The Coran Inn in Saltcoats

I think all 3 of those cover the "not posh but not cheap" range
