DOOM 3 bfg new edition game

Properly supports the head mounted stuff that's being kick-started and developed properly for gaming also (Independent aiming and free looking) which is awesome.

Might have to pick this up when/if some affordable decent head mount stuff is available.

It doesn't look very remastered. In fact it looks exactly the same as it does now.

Doom 3 has aged well, it doesn't need remastering.

yea they've just improved the lighting and removed the dust from the graphics, but they cant improve the map detailing without redoing it from scatch, i dont know, i havent played ``resurrection of evil `` or this extra ``lost mission`` whatever it's called, so maybe it's worth the money.

it's all about getting the Doom fans excited again isn't it............. ready for DOOM 4.

Doom 3 still doesn't properly support widescreen resolutions without fiddling with cfg files. In Carmack's recent speech at quakecon, he mentioned having Doom 3 running in multi-monitor setups, and managing to tax some modern rigs. he also mentioned a lot of idTech 5 code had been backported to it. So there is reason to hope it may be a substantial overhaul, or at least the config fiddling wont be necessary any more.
Also, the Lost mission is another 6 or 8 levels - and Doom 3 levels are not small. One interview hinted that they would tie into Doom 4 somehow.

So there are things for Doomaholics to look forward to.

deffo yes, plus the screen image isn't that hard to clean up, because i've seen it looking quite good in the Doom mods that i used to have, DOOM 3 looks fuzzy and blurry on a big screen compared to the mods, i dont know why.

whatever the case, why bother remastering such an old game ?..... it's being done because of Doom 4... deffo !

i dont think Doom 4 is such a long way off, because he mentioned that they're going to make Rage 2, so this tells you that he's planning ahead because DOOM 4 is drawing to an end..... i think !

I always thought Doom 3 was quite underrated at the time because people thought it would be another endless shooting game but actually it was something much more that brought the FPS genre forward. The graphics were a huge selling point and I think they really cracked the atmosphere of the UAC base with ambience and the occasional voice recording/encounter with a fellow human. All the machinery and lab stuff is full of tiny details, it certainly has it's own style along with all the satanic stuff. In a pitch black room with a sub woofer turned up Doom 3 is a dark and creepy game. Just that initial cutscene fills you with apprehension, I haven't been so drawn in since Half-Life.

With better graphics I might be tempted but it will have to be a reasonable price like under £20 for me to pay for it.

Playing through Quake 4 with Sikkmod at the moment, thoroughly enjoying the experience. The engine still has the best lighting I've seen.

I tried that mod the other day, though in comparison to the Doom 3 sikkmod, I wouldn't say it was anywhere near as polished. In case I've missed a more recent version, would you please link to the mod you've been playing? Thanks. :)

.
well if it looks like that it'll be fine, because that looks cleaned up to me, it'll look like Serious Sam quality/borderlands 2, rather than Deux ex... Doom 3 has the best Audio/ sound effects of any horror game, it's creepy and very atmospheric.

i hope Doom 4 is the same, but locating it on Earth in an environment similar to FEAR 2 or Gears of War might not work so well.... a huge deseted space station is far more claustrophobic and creepy, a city is too big and open.... this worries me quite a lot

Doom 3 is also quite Satanic, i've noticed weird **** going on at home whilst playing it, i will wait for the reviews first and i'm only interested in one thing before i buy it again..... Does it look much better than the original !

Game design itself though was very "meh", the monster closets really made no sense at all on what was meant to be a military installation, and once you got about 45 mins into the game you'd seen just about every formula for what would trigger an enemy spawn. Also its amusing that it took id so long to see that their gimmick for the flashlight was totally retarded, they got a ton of flack for that.

Would have been nice to see them beef up some of the sound effects, some of the stock weapons firing sounds were borderline pathetic. The futuristic p90 lookalike being one of the worst.

Defo interested in this. Sounds daft, but I haven't played Doom 3!! The last Doom i played was final doom for PC and the odd blast on Doom for the SNES! The originals for win 3.1 were brilliant!!! lol!
