Doom 3

Hey,

Never played any of the Doom games,But Doom 3 looks really good..does doom 3 carry on a story from the previous 2 dooms or was they just run and gun?

Hehe, Doom and Doom 2 didn't really have a story.

I mean, technically they did but it was literally a bit of text splitting up the 4 chapters.

the first dooms was run around and shoot but 3 was scary as **** as to my mind was one of first games that you had to switch between flash light and gun so you were why they gone argh its hitting me

cant wait for doom 4

My nerves were a bloody mess after playing it, that sound of a panel flying open and you new something was coming right at you in the dark.....i'll take it to my grave!

Yeah I loved this feature, but a lot of people moaned that the game was too dark so in the BFG edition they changed it so the torch is permanently attached to the gun, which makes the game far less scary

DOOM 3 was fantastic, brilliant atmosphere, but to play it now wouldn't be much fun, because it's far too old.

but i think the new DOOM will be just as good, as long as it's not too repetitive, my guess is it'll feel exactly the same as a modern version of DOOM 3, because i recognise the Audio as well, it definitely sounds similar.

you cant do much with DOOM to change it, you can not relocate it to Earth, it only works on a vast deserted space station...it is iconic.

loved doom 3. was one of my fav games. modded made such a difference but the newer bfg version was a big of a let down.

ideally you want the original game not the bfg and add mods like sikkmodd really it pretty decent looking now with some of the mods on.

hopefully doom 4 is great too.

Do yourself a favour, play the original Doom 3 (not the B4G edition), and use the following Mods - No Gibbs, and Trent Reznor sound pack - much better experience.

Doom 3 was just entering rooms whilst enemies spawn behind you over and over, yawn.

Give me the first two any day, brilliant both of them. Doom LAN was so much fun.

doom lans were fantastic, I think thats what really got me into pc gaming.

I'm disappointed that 4 won't have co-op, I just hope it doesnt turn into 1 quicktime kill after another and somehow catches the feel of the original (probably impossible!)

It did get samey admittedly, but before the novelty of the nice graphics and atmosphere wore off, it was pretty intense at the time! :eek:

I got my first nic card purely to play doom on a lan with my mates BNC with terminators those were the days!
