Doom 4.....my rig

I've had a very similar problem like this before and it turned out to be the motherboard. I would still suggest a clean windows install on a separate partition just to be sure it's not software.

This Wolfenstein sucks beans! I cannot use SLI on it. It has an Nvidia SLI profile that just uses one card lol

8GB vs 16GB is a silly upgrade for gaming. Better CPU, better GPU, PSU... maybe

Depends how they go with Doom 4 TBH, if they take the Doom 3 approach and build a visual masterpiece then no rig currently in existence will be able to run it at max settings. If they take a "gotta make it run on consoles" approach then pretty much every decent rig will be able to max it, and it will suck, lol.

Sounds more like you need a clean windows install and/or an ssd or two.

You also said value for money by going amd, I won't argue with that, but a few posts earlier you said you were eyeing up the 8gb 290x  a near £250 price hike for another 4gb vram doesn't scream value for money to me.

If spending £600 - 290p crossfire. Or if a single card with lots of vram then a 6gb 780 will run you around £400.

thanks guys..... i did a Windows performance test it gave me only 5.9 for the Seagate hard drive...... 7.8 for the rest.

1.... it loads up Steam, sais things like ``Steam not available in offline mode``

2.....loads up MOBO and flashes up all the OC software stuff on the screen

3.....repeats No 1 again :(

4.....loads up desktop icons...the Windows start screen is the last thing it does

5......i then have to wait before i can open a game

i was told almost a year ago, that there was something wrong with the old MOBO and this new one too, the shop said `` this mobo is a bit slow, but i'm not sure what it is, do you want me to get you an MSI``

both Far Cry 3 and Bulletstorm dont work.....Steam wont let me start them, I cant solve this till i go back online

it looks like to me.......a new SSD.....COPY GAME FILES OVER and a fresh Windows install, also it looks like a fresh Steam too.....with Steam i'm using 2 email adresses.... no idea why, but a fresh upload of everything is a huge amount of work

rig will limp on, but might be best to start building a new one
