yup- for some odd reason, sometimes when my gf puts her foot on the clutch, we get a loung "clonk" (which we have named the doom-clonk....dont ask...)

sounds like its coming from inside the passenger compartment, kind of like the pedal is catching on a piece of plastic trim, but i have no idea what it could actually be...

1992 mk3 fiesta 1.1 with assosciated rust and dents....

anyone got any ideas? (new car not an option- i have pc upgrades to do :D)

It sounds like the clutch ratchet has gone, its should only be a few quid from your local ford dealer though its a right fiddly job as its up under the dash. Its a normal consumable part and shouldnt take a garage that long to fit.

Most of the ford range are prone to this in later years.

^^ as above, sounds like the self adjuster has died and you can hear the plastic bits flapping around. You can get the parts from a motorfactor very cheaply (it's as if they are a regular part to die on older fords ;))
