Just a few seconds ago Coincident beat the Okuplok map on Ultraviolence. Single segment, no saves.

Absolutely no idea what any of this means tbh. Some context would be good. Is this akin to Dark Souls speedrunning or no-hit challenges?

I've watched bits of it in the past, enough to know it has thousands of monsters and will take an average person hours to complete. With saves.

This new record is madness.

It’s one of the most famous slaughter maps for Doom, with tens of thousands of monsters, and hugely difficult but with legendary arenas. Unlike Cosmogenesis it was left only sort-of finished, needing a little polish. Like adding teleporters to death pits.

Coincident is one of the more prolific Doom streamers, with others like Decino. He’s put many, many hours into mastering Doom.

IIRC someone did a TAS on Okuplok UV recently as a proof of concept (EDIT: Oh some TAS runs of it are 4+ years old), personally more impressed by runs on Bastion of Chaos.

And now the Ultra Violence video is up.

There is a video somewhere of just the amount of work needed to strategise the first set of stairs - quite interesting all the considerations, etc. and IIRC it was like 2 weeks of effort just to min/max that section alone.

EDIT: Was also by Coincident:

I have no idea what the map is, but i get the gist of it. Impressive that someone has put that much effort into something and it achieved it.

It's cool that some of the old titles and mods receive so much love still.
