The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists announced its symbolic “doomsday clock” has moved forward to 100 seconds to midnight, the closest to catastrophe that the scientists have judged the world to be at any point since its creation in 1947, at the outset of the cold war.

I totally agree, you cannot tell me that the world now is closer to annihilation than at various times during the CW.... i mean... FFS we were right on the cusp during Cuba and there has been many other times its been much more worrying.

I really dont see how india/Pakistan and NK all managed to bring it crashing back towards midnight after the cold war ended and it dropped significantly.

There was also the commander of the nuclear sub during the Cuban Missile Crisis who prevented a launch when contact with Moscow was lost(default position was Moscow has been hit)
