Door call is this odd?

Earlier we had a person knocking on our door offering to wash the car to make funds for a funeral for a friend who was killed.

Anyway today the weather is not exactly washing your car friendly, so I thought this was seriously weird and doesn't the government or councils help in some way with funds for people who have trouble paying for such things?

They carried on knocking on doors until I lost sight of them.

Odd behaviour?

Possibly, I was just more concerned they might knock on some elderly persons door and scam them.

They could perfectly be genuine but considering a lot of this door scamming and theft goes on I felt best to ring non emergency number and report it.

You're all too sensitive and paranoid these days. My mate used to go round our estate a few years back washing people's cars, and now he's grown to the point that he has a rather successful car detailing company mostly dealing with supercar owning clients.

Give them a break.

Well they must have had invisible bucket and sponge as they wondered off in one direction with no car washing gear.

Anyway a lot of door crime has happened in my area in the past so I felt best to ring non emergency.

You get up to £2000 help towards a funeral so they're either uninformed or after your car keys.

My grandparents get it a lot around their way - sob story and washing windows or washing car - with a good chance your valuables will vanish also.

It leaves you with the question "What if they were genuine?" and then the guilt.

If you paid you'd feel ripped off.

The question of the authenticity is of the moment and leaves you with a conundrum. People don't like to say no.

Very scammy.
