Hi chaps,

I'm able to re-format a PC and set it up properly, but I've noticed I can never get rid of the DOS splash screens which are mainly just adverts of the PC Manufacturer, and I always hated those!

Afterall, I paid, so why do they feel the need to constantly annoy me by advertising? I'm sure they must slow boot times, too.

The problem lies in the fact that I haven't got a clue how to remove them. Has anyone done this before? I'm using a Laptop right now which I'd like to practice on, and I'm thinking it might just be a matter of flashing the BIOS, but I can't be sure at all, really.

If anyone could shed some light on this problem, I'd appreciate it. :)

It's the BIOS logo image you're referring to I think. They are covering up the POST, they don't slow anything down at all. All you'd see if you disabled them is a bunch of self tests being carried out.

In the BIOS you can turn off boot logo but it won't make anything any quicker, but you can see things going wrong which is helpful :)

^^

There will be no speed increase from turning the Boot image off.

Oh, and it's not a DOS screen, the machine hasn't loaded an OS yet ;)
