Dos this cooler come with paste?

Yeah comes with the thermalright chill stuff, I don't rate it got a few degrees lower with gc-extreme depends if you've got a few pounds spare for that or mx-3..

Yeah, it's a great cooler though should have no problems.

*you can see it in the second picture.

It is easy to install? My one I tried to install yesterday was a nightmare and the thread was badly damaged on one of the bolts and because of that when tightened it the spring made it shoot into my head..

What cooler did you try to install yesterday?

SA SB-E is one of biggest coolers available... and sometimes it won't clear everything.. like GPU, RAM, etc.

Learned skill level makes a big difference in how easy things are to do. I've spend years doing mechanical assembly/repair so usually find thing pretty easy.

That said I can definitely understand how some can be a real nightmare to install for someone without experience.

*I always check that all screws/nuts thread together as they should.
*Often put a speck of oil on thread to reduce friction.
*Assemble mount on motherboard loosely with cooler mount/crossbar before installing mount/crossbar on cooler, then tighten motherboard mount. This insures crossbar screws are aligned with mount.
*Trial install cooler with protective plastic film still on it before actual install. Doing this lets me see what kinds of problems may present themselves when actually installing... like getting mounting screws to line up, fan interference, etc.

As above very skill dependant, I'm very mechanically minded so find these things pretty simple.

You screw all the backplate on, no springs lol and then there's a bracket that fits over the base of the cooler with two screw holes, I used a long screwdriver as it's very tight (impossible in some circumstances) to use the spanner. Just tweak both screw up evenly until they are tight/won't turn anymore.

It's a big old thing, fits fine in my p280.

Edit, leave the fans off until the end, just put the sticky rubber pads on when it's off.

Looks similar to the silver arrow, what cpu socket are you using? You can move the first fan up so it clears the RAM either way or just have it setup for a push pull middle and a pull rear fan.

I'm sure you're be fine, just take your time as it can be easy to rush once you get the paste on but it won't do any harm sitting there for afew minutes whilst you get yourself lined up, best to try and get it central first time rather then move it around.

Ah, I used 1155 but don't recall seeing any springs in the box and the actual mounting of the cooler I'm sure is the same.. There is a video of one being fitted on the tube somewhere..

Assuming it was new I will accept defective maybe, but I would doubt damaged... unless you damaged it. The tread match is often not the best on these things and if forced just a little bit can result in damage. That's why I always check / test all threads before assembly. And a bit of oil on the end of a straight pin dabbed on first thread makes a huge difference... especially if thread is a little rough and /or tight. It can mean the difference between cursing and almost stripping phillips socket with screwdriver or being able to turn it with your fingers.. No joke. I'm as serious as a heart attack. ;)
