Hey guys,

Had a quick search & I couldnt find anything but is there a list available of which games work in Dosbox & which dont???

Having had a quick look back that old adventures I used to play in the 486 days I have an urge to play them all again & just wondered if they work in Dosbox or not before I go through the try it myself route anyway ;)

Thanks in advance

Neil

Well Dosbox emulates pretty much everything to do with DOS... I've played quite a few games including Master of Orion and Rayman that worked fine. In fact, Master of Orion was easier to get working on DOSbox than it was when I first got the game in the 90's - it required you to free up a certain amount of base RAM under 640k, which meant optimising the autoexec.bat and config.sys file to only have the minimum amount of stuff.

Oh god dont get me started on Master of Orion...classic game a right royal pain in the backside that one :D

Thanks for the help, reckon I'll give that a download at the weekend then when I can get back round the parents to crack out the old games in the loft :)

DOS Box is a great prog.

Used it a while ago to run Tyrian 2000. Great Game! Brings back so many memories!

Most of the games will work with DOS Box, on the offical site you should find a big list of games which natively support DOS Box. The ones which dont normally just require DOS Box to be setup differently.

I am currently playing Syndicate using dosbox 0.7. Very good game :D

Almost anything will work on Dosbox to some degree, the key is trying to:
  • Get decent FPS
  • Get decent sound
  • Get decent input
Some of the games you'll have all of those things, others you'll have to put up with no sound, or the mouse will not have smooth movement, or it will go at hyper-speed - and you'll have to tweak the game or dosbox itself to get perfect experience, and it will be worth it to re-visit the memories :D
