hey i have just got a Asus P8P67 PRO Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard and my power supply dose not come with a 8 pin power lead only one six so i bought this 6+2-pin pci-e and i was woundering if it will work or not?

thanks

Does your PSU have 1 x 4 pin or 2 x 4 pin leads?

What is the make /model of the psu?

Poor quality PSU.

The Mobo might run with the just the 4 pin connected, the 8 pin just doubles the current.

I wouldn't overclock the cpu if this works.

i just got this one just now to get my pc up and runing and when i get paid this month i was going to buy a new Corsair TX 750W psu.

so will this cable not work or will i need to get a 4 pin to an 8 pin?

I believe that's down to the motherboard, trying it won't damage it.

My Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4 can run a 2600k using just a 4 pin, as I found out when my new PSU was DOA, I had to use an old PSU while waiting for the replacement.

thanks ill try that when i get in.

i take it that if you are just using 4 pin it will go in the the left of the 8 pin female on the motherboard?
