On the AMD side Vulkan is an improvement over OpenGL in terms of framerates and frametimes when using a Fury X but the GTX980TI is still overall faster and has more consistent frametimes.

Interestingly with a faster CPU the GTX980TI is faster under OpenGL than Vulkan whilst the Fury X with a slower CPU seems to run the game better under DX11 when compared to Vulkan or OpenGL.

Interesting results.

i imagine with time NVidia will close the gap between Vulkan and OpenGl with improved drivers but like DX12 it is often going to come down to who is better at optimzing for the specific hardware - Nvidia or the game developer.

Does the Vulkan implementation render the same quality level or does it also enable extra features?

EDIT: Looks like they are apparently all the same in this case so doesn't explain any performance differences.

Looks like it's just freeing up CPU bottlenecks.

Yup nVidia making sure Vulkan is implemented on their terms.

I almost want to say something is wrong with those updated benchmarks ouch.
