Hi all

My single built in oven has broken. I was looking at possibly getting a double built under oven. However, what I can't work out is whether a double built under oven needs a special base unit to sit in. Does anyone know?

Thanks

M.

normal oven size is 60 x 60.
compact oven is 45 x 60(w)
large ovens by miele and gaggenu are 72 x 75
HUGE ovens by miele are 60 X 90(w)
double oven is 90 x 60 (w)

There's also the built under double oven which is 70 x 60. But I can't seem to find whether a new base unit would required or if the existing base unit that houses a single oven can be used.

I have a single oven, 59cm, but the base unit it sits in has a void space at the bottom with a blanking plate. So to fit a double oven i would need to take out the blanking plate and take out the shelf in the base unit which will give me the extra 11-12cm to fit the double oven (70cm)

EDIT: looks like grumpy beat me to it. :)

The base unit on mine also has an empty void below the oven that did have a blanking plate over the front (until it dropped off!). Does this mean a double under counter oven would fit into what I already have? There is a wooden shelf between the base of the oven and the void space. I assume that can be taken out.
