(Sorry if this has been asked before)

I've been spending way over my upgrade budget in the last few days. No thanks to the memory, SSD shortages and general Black Friday panic :o So have been having to make some quick decisions on my new build. Although that said, it was always going to be a 5070 Ti build w/ 9800x3d.

So just checking if the Asus GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Prime OC 16GB GDDR7 is going to safely fit in the Fractal North (non-XL) ok.

Size of 5070Ti according to OcUK;

Code:
Length / Depth    306 mm
Width            126 mm
Height            50 mm

Case specs say this;

Code:
Max. CPU Cooler Height 170 mm
Max. GPU Length            355 mm
Max. PSU Length / Depth 255 mm

************ is giving me this note;
Note: When the Asus PRIME OC GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB Video Card is used, the maximum depth for the Fractal Design North ATX Mid Tower Case front radiator mount is reduced to 49 mm.

I'm not installing a radiator on the front (or at all). So I'm assuming I can ignore that note?

Any tips on cooling in this case? I believe it comes with two fans. I'll probably go air cooling on the cpu so I need to check sizes for that as well. Should I plump for another fan for the top of the case as well? Or rear?

They are just pointing out that it will not fit with a radiator in the front, so you can ignore the warning.

I would not bother with a fan in the top, but probably would for the rear.

Thanks @freddie64. So with their warning they are assuming everyone is using the front fans anyway (as it comes with them).

I’ve not built a PC since my 2020 upgrade. Any tips or links for building in this case specifically?

Good luck with your build.
That's helpful thank you. Do you think a gpu suport/riser is necessary?
Cooling I was just put a 120mm at the rear and leave the 2x140mm at the front
Cool (geddit :o ) thanks. I think I hve a spare 120mm kicking around. Might not be the quietest but hey.

That Royal Pretor looks lovely. No silly RGB, black. Thanks for the tip. Case says max heigh for cpu cooler 170mm and that's 158mm tall. I presume that's safe enough? Do I need to be checking measurements or where the RAM sits on the motherboard once decided?

And I'll be honest the last upgrade I did was in 2020 so fitting the cpu and cooler is the bit I'm bricking it about :o:o:(

Support riser is helpful but not a must so if you got I may use but not a necessaty.

You may have to move the front CPU cooler fan up slightly for ram clearance depending on memory type the 170mm clearance gives enough space.
That case does support a 240mm aio in the top if interested, thermalright again do some performance coolers.

Fitting parts is a bit nervy if out of practice but read manuals and watch video tutorials on YouTube will help tremendously there's videos that will walk you the complete build process

Remember never overtighten finger tight the add a smidge if necessary.

Heads up

Firest boot on AM5 can take up to 15mins for anything to show on screen and may reboot a few times this is because the motherboard is training the memory so be patient.

This is taken from the product page.

The PCB includes a high-quality backplate that enhances structural rigidity, preventing any unwanted flexing and protecting internal components from dust and debris. What’s more, the included GPU bracket streamlines installation, ensuring uniform mounting and eliminating any sagging for extra stability.

Up to you if you want to add a extra support for peace of mind.

Sounds like it’s covered then. Sweet.

I watched some videos of that Royal Preston. Insane how big coolers are nowadays. Do they have support brackets? :p

Rather than starting a new thread I just wanted to check on the cpu cooler too. I've been recommended the Thermalright Royal Pretor and this is the spec; 130 (L) x 112 (W) x 158mm (H)

The official Fractal website specs this;
145 mm with Fan Bracket (Mesh version only)/ 170 mm without

Double checking, when they say "fan bracket" do they mean a bracket attached to the mesh side of the case? (Which I'm not going to do). So I've got the 170mm clearance right? TIA.

EDIT: Or is that overkill for someone who's unlikely to do any overclocking? Should I just stick with a Peerless Assassin 120 SE like everyone else?
