Me and my other half a young baby so cannot watch films together with the big surround sound setup as it will wake him up of an evening

I use a wireless Sony headphones connected to an Nvidia shield via bluetooth to watch things alone

What would be the easiest way for us both to use headphones as I think Bluetooth only works on a single device at a time?

the issue with bluetooth and using a 1-to-2 bluetooth splitter is (a) additional latency means lip synch lag, and (b) secure end to end connections may prevent it working with films.

You may be better with something that plugs into the headphone socket then converts the analogue to 2x bluetooth but heaphone sockets are disappearing.

My Denon amp has headphone out and the Sony headphones have a jack plug to override Bluetooth, it would just be a long ass cable across the room with a splitter on

Could be the only way I guess and it's only temporary until the little one learns to sleep through the bass

You also want to keep an ear out for the baby monitor as a priority. You’ve got 4-5 years and then the cinema ends up being sold :) (mine disappeared thanks to the mrs)

The baby monitor lights up like a Christmas tree when he makes a noise so I'm covered there....

I'm a bit deaf so I can't really hear it on low volumes
