I am currently working on acquiring the:
ASRock ROMED8HM3
https://www.asrockrack.com/general/productdetail.asp?Model=ROMED8HM3#Specifications
Below I've *asterisked details outlined for elaboration so one may endulge or peruse.
*I would prefer to buy a SuperMicro, but, they've left me out in the cold. Apparently, their boards according to Simon Chan their worthless AMD rep supposes all the serverboards that support dedicated gpu have intel nuc.
At any rate the risers for this board are somewhat limited; there are two proprietary gen 4.0 slots:
(1) Gen 4.0 16x
(1) Gen 4.0 24x
Either riser however will only provide a 16x Gen 4.0 slot.
**The problem is, I'm in a niche market that that uses real dedicated GPU's (no slistacka) and will not buy pink rabbit "tech" even if it's as small as a 1 cent nuc that seem to be plaguing Zen boards, or say a VM imtelling nuc driver.
***That being said I've already been through:
Gigabyte's MZ31-AR0 Rev. 1 - Foxconn bracket broke a memory channel
Tyan S8026 LE - Foxconn bracket broke motherboard and 7551P
Tyan S8036 LE - 4-pin Berg connector broke riser and motherboard on first use. (Those are those real old floppy connectors that never break; in this instance used to supply any over-spec voltage required of the break-out lanes the motherboard slot cannot specafford.)
FYI, Foxconn is the company that manufactured those steve jobs intel only macs and cell phones that always had a broken screen. Before that they were the worst name in the industry for generic motherboard manufacturing, in case you've been living under a rock.
****Now, I have a:
#1 - Vega Frontier Liquid Cooled Edition, binned at 13.4T/Flops.
#2 - 4x Samsung 970 PRO's in HW RAID0 on a SSD7103 https://highpoint-tech.com/USA_new/series-ssd7103-overview.htm This too requires 16x Gen 3.0 lanes.
#3 - Highpoint RocketU 1344A 4 type-A port USB requiring 4x Gen 3.0 lanes physical/bandwidth. https://highpoint-tech.com/USA_new/series-ru1344a-specification.htm
I'm willing to forgo using the USB expansion card at least until Milan or a new riser, or thus a motherboard, but it seems a terrible waste of 4 - 10 Gb/s USB type-A ports especially since I use a RocketStor 6124V with USB 3.1 Gen 2 @ 10Gb/s. https://highpoint-tech.com/USA_new/series-rs6124v-overview.htm
So, I'm here asking if anyone has seen a riser card or cable that can effectively double or breakout, a Gen 4.0 slot to multiple Gen 3.0 slots maybe a 3M Digikey cable/riser, something of the like.
*****Thanks in advance!
