Hey all.

I use 8GB of Samsung Green memory. I don't use any photo editing software or massively graphical intense games. I play lots of Flight Sim and am building up lots of addons for it.

Would I benefit from an extra 8GB to help the sim run? Is it better to have 2x4GB modules or 4x2GB modules?

Bit hard to see since the pictures have been shrunk down but it seems you;re not even using 4GB. Hence a RAM upgrade will do nothing. Rather, only one of your cores is maxed out, with varying usage across two other cores (and making the 4th core pretty much idle). Seems the flight sim is poorly multithreaded.

I guess the only beneficial upgrade you'll get is overclocking the CPU further or jumping to a CPU with better IPC, which is Haswell at the moment compared to your 3570K.

Multithreaded means the software is able to use multiple cores. If you look at the core usage in Task Manager you can cleary see only one core is being used efficiently.

IPC is Instructions Per Clock, the better this is, the more performance it gives per clock. For example, Intel Ivy Bridge has a much higher IPC than AMD Piledriver, and is able to give more performance on the same speed. So an i7 at 3 GHz will outperform a FX at 3 GHz also.

FS X is a 32-bit app (as are most games) therefore it generally it can only use a maximum of 2GB of RAM. No point upgrading the RAM.
