Hello People
my P8Z68 motherboard only has 2 (variable speed) fan headers, i currently have one fan plugged into a power fan header which means it is spinning at 1200 rpm constantly. Although the fan is silent, i want to be able to stop it spinning when the PC isn't doing anything.

Can i plug 2 120mm Fractal fans into one Fan header using a splitter cable?

Yes I'd think you'd be alright to do that. Not sure where it comes from but people say headers are good for 1 Amp. I used to have two Noctua fans on one header and that was fine, and they run a little faster.

Double check, my p8z68 has at least 3 pwm headers, two up by the CPU socket called CPU _fan and. CPU_fan_opt as well as one lower down called pwr _fan

You wouldn't want to use the pwr_fan one to often as it can't be controlled, it supplies full power only, so any fan plugged into that would be going full pelt.

Chuck a resitor cable on it to lower the speed? Or a variable controller?

Cheers guys! I have thought about using the CPU otp header but this would mean the fan would never be 'off'. I Have only tried one PWR header, it does run the fan at full pelt, however I will try the other.
Where would I find a splitter for the fan cable?
Ps. I have 3 case fans ( scythe 1900 rpm in the rear) and the fractals in the front, incase you wondered why I have nO available header :D

What about a Bitfenix Fan adapter cable (3 fans to 1 connector)
Its braided so can get it in multiple colours.

*edit, just realized its 3pin so not PWM :(
