Life before Doughty?
Remind me what that was like... oh yeah Premier League football, at the end of it we turned into a yo-yo team but id rather be a Premier League/Championship yo-yo than the tat we are now.
We only nearly went to the wall because of Doughty, lets remember that. He threw cash at Platt... Platt was a joke and since then we have paid for it. Paul Hart got us into the playoffs on a shoestring and the back of the kids he bought up, the year after... shafted by Doughty.
Then we went on a rampage of poor managerial decisions (remembering that as of today we have had something like 10 managers in 12 years... good old Doughty installing consistency there, AND spending out a fortune of our 'debt' to get rid of them). Anyway 3 years in League One, magic they were.
January and its Billys 1st full season, we just stuffed WBA at their patch and looked good. All we needed was a few quid put in to keep Shorey and maybe add something in the middle.... Doughty bottled it. The team collapsed and we lost in the playoffs.
That summer, nothing.... a 6 month loan for Bertrand. OK we again look in a good position coming into January... again nothing. We scrape a playoff place and collapse again.
Doughty is the man that lied to McClaren about funds being available
Doughty is the man that spent 120,000 of the clubs income each year to give to David Pleat
Doughty is the man that spends 300,000 a year to give to Mark 'I like to lie' Arthur
Doughty is the man that has seen the clubs debt increase dramatically.... we owe him something like 60m. That is a noose around our neck, what chance do we have of investment with that sitting there?
Doughty hasnt saved us, he has lead us through a decade of pain
Anyone who backs Doughty needs shooting. At the same time, McClaren is a joke and with the dressing room divided and 6 or 7 first teamers vocal in their displeasure at playing for him, it wont be long before he goes.
However Steve is just another pawn in Doughtys game with us... remember this is our Chairman who spends more time at QPR than he does watching us.
