he was born on the same day as me :)

will also recommend them. havent actually read them, but if the film is anything to go by, then they'll be amazing (the film is almost always worse than the book)

I discovered this guy playing his text adventure based video game... The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. Then I read the book etc. This guy was awesome.

Fantastic series of books and was the first series of books I got into as a kid. Loved the film as well and the TV series!

*see sig* :D

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: A Trilogy in Four Parts is my favorite book.

RIP DA :(

I absolutely adored the first four books, though I was a tiny bit let down by the fifth. And I was never really keen on how it ended. All seemed so... anticlimactic.

Died 10 years ago today:(

I got a lot of joy from reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy when I was a kid and I'll often delve in to the radio series, it never gets old.

I'm sure most of you know who he is but in case you haven't picked up the books yet, I'd like to recommend you do so:) It's fantastically witty and well worth your time.

Meh books were ok but the radio broadcast the first written and released was his best work

BOT: RIP Mr. Adams!

I have the trilogy of four on my shelf here, tempted to break it out for a good read tonight :)

Its definetely one of the best series I've read. I would probably rate the Harry Potter series and the Discworld series higher though.

To each one's own i guess? :p

Ten years? Wow that's gone fast. The Hitchhiker books are amazing, if any of you in GD haven't read them get to it!

Harry Potter is only exceptional because Rowling created an immersive world that can be easily merchandised (yeah, that's the bitter cynic in me)! One of the best things about Harry Potter is that it got a lot more people reading, though.

I've fond memories of watching the TV series when it was 1st shown on the BBC. This prompted me to buy the 1st book then the rest in the series as they were released. I even scrimped & saved my pocket money at the time to buy the record of the radio series! :D

I think I'll buy that book for my sisters eldest boy, as he's getting near the age I was when I started reading his books & he's got more or less the same sense of humour as me & I think he'll like them. :)
